1st Southwater Sea Scout Group

Welcome to the 1st Southwater Sea Scout Group. We’re a land-based Sea Scout Group in West Sussex. We formed in 1992 to bring waterborne Scouting to Southwater.

We have grown in strength to over fifty children across three sections: Beaver Colony, Cub Pack, and Scout Troop.

We meet in the main hall of Southwater Junior Academy for Scouts and Cubs and at the Infant Academy for Beavers.

Our activities in the spring and summer are water-based at Southwater Country Park. Kayaking, canoeing and raft building are run from our equipment base in the park.

As the nights draw in, we hike, swim, build fires, or use the fantastic facilities of Beacon Hill Scout Camp, our District campsite.

Our aims are simple. To develop, from a young age at Beavers right through to Scouts, the abilities of young children to think for themselves and become self-reliant. Our young people develop social interaction skills and learn critical team skills. Each stage draws out these skills as they grow while steadily introducing responsibility and leadership opportunities.

We always welcome help and support for the Group. It is not just an opportunity for the children to have fun but also an excellent time for adults to embrace new adventures!
